Karen joined Moneymax in 2018 and is an Authorised Financial Adviser. Karen believes in building long term relationships with clients to help guide them through their financial journey. She particularly enjoys helping people plan for retirement so they are confident about what they can spend to enjoy life.

Karen has an MBA from Victoria University, a Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 (Investment) and is a member of Financial Advice New Zealand. She has been mentored by Liz Koh on the Moneymax way of providing a practical, common-sense approach to managing money.

Originally from the UK, Karen has had a variety of roles that means she has worked with people from every walk of life. She was a VAT officer from the age of 18 visiting small business owners and later as a senior officer, auditing very large household-name companies. On the Kapiti Coast, she helped small business owners as a Business Development Manager and then ran her own local business known as Trinity Farm serving rose enthusiasts, garden visitors and helping plan weddings for couples, as well as event planning arts and crafts workshops and shows.

Karen lives on the Kapiti Coast with her Kiwi husband Grant, and two small dogs which she enjoys taking on beach walks. She is the “wicked stepmother” to two wonderful adult children, and one gorgeous grandchild. Her hobbies include oil painting, yoga and gardening.

Karen’s blog articles are usually based on personal experience or address questions that frequently arise from clients.
